Using the Smart Helper
Your knowledgeable care advisor lives at the top of every page. It can answer questions and take action on your care data.
How to access the Smart Helper
The Smart Helper is always available via the teal bar at the top of your dashboard. Tap or click it to open a conversation. You can also reach it from the main navigation under Guidance > Smart Helper. It works on desktop and mobile, and you can start a conversation at any time without leaving the page you are on. The bar stays visible across all sections of the app so help is never more than one tap away.
What the Smart Helper knows about your situation
The Smart Helper is aware of your care recipient's profile, including their diagnosed conditions, current medications, mobility level, cognitive status, living situation, and location. This means you do not need to re-explain your situation every time you ask a question. For example, if your loved one has diabetes and takes metformin, you can ask "what should I watch for with their blood sugar?" and the Smart Helper already has that context. It draws on publicly available health information and tailors responses to your specific circumstances.
Beyond Q&A: a Smart Helper that takes action
The Smart Helper is more than a chatbot. It can read and write your care data. You can ask it to add a medication to the list, update a care note, check drug interactions for your current medications, or pull together a summary of recent health changes. When the Smart Helper takes an action, you will see exactly what it is doing and can confirm before it saves. This makes it faster to manage care without navigating through multiple screens.
Example things you can ask or do
The Smart Helper can help with a wide range of caregiving topics and tasks. Try questions like: "What are the signs of a UTI in someone with dementia?" or "How do I talk to my parent about giving up driving?" You can also give it instructions: "Add Lisinopril 10mg once daily to the medication list," "Check interactions for all current medications," "What changed in vitals this week?" or "Draft a list of questions for the cardiologist visit on Thursday." The more specific your request, the more useful the response tends to be.
Conversation history and follow-ups
Your conversations with the Smart Helper are saved so you can revisit them later. After each response, you may see follow-up buttons suggesting related questions you might want to explore next. These are generated based on the topic at hand and your care profile. You can also type your own follow-up to dig deeper into any topic. Past conversations are accessible from the Smart Helper screen, so if you got useful advice last week, you can find it again without re-asking.
Important notes
The Smart Helper provides general guidance based on publicly available information and your care profile. It does not replace professional medical, legal, or financial advice. Always confirm health-related suggestions with your care recipient's doctor or pharmacist. The hedging language you see in responses, such as "you may want to consider" or "it appears," is intentional and reflects the informational nature of the tool.
