Inviting family members

Bring siblings, spouses, and other caregivers into your care circle.

How to send invitations

Go to Family > Members and click "Invite Member." Enter their email address and choose their role: family member, professional caregiver, or friend. They will receive an email with a link to create their own account and join your care circle. The invitation includes a brief description of Senior Support Resources so the recipient understands what they are being invited to. You can include a personal message with the invitation to explain why you are asking them to join.

Roles and permissions

Primary Caregiver has full access and administrative rights, including the ability to invite and remove members, change roles, and delete data. Family members can view everything, log visits, complete tasks, add medications, and contribute information. Professional Caregiver role is designed for home health aides, nurses, or other paid caregivers who need access to care information but not family-level discussions. The Friend role provides basic access for trusted people who want to help with specific tasks or stay informed.

When someone does not accept the invitation

Invitations expire after 7 days. You can resend from the Members page at any time. If someone is hesitant about joining, it may help to show them the app first or explain what information they will be able to see. Reassure them that they can participate as much or as little as they want. Some family members start by just reading visit logs from others, and they gradually become more involved as they see the value. Even having two people in a care circle makes coordination dramatically easier compared to phone calls and text messages.

Remote family members

Family members who live far away often feel disconnected from the care situation. Inviting them to the care circle gives them visibility into what is happening day-to-day through visit logs, medication records, and the shared timeline. They can contribute by taking on remote tasks (researching services, making phone calls, handling insurance paperwork) and logging their phone or video calls with the care recipient. Distance does not have to mean disengagement.

Tips

Start by inviting whoever is most involved in the care. You do not need everyone to join at once. Each person needs their own email address and account. If a family member does not use email regularly, you can help them create an account in person during a visit. The equity tracker works best when all involved family members are in the circle and logging their contributions.
