Task management
Create, assign, and track caregiving tasks across your care circle.
Creating tasks
Navigate to Family > Tasks and click "Add Task." Enter a title, description, due date, priority level (low, medium, high, urgent), and category (medical, household, financial, legal, transportation, other). Assign the task to a specific care circle member or leave it unassigned for anyone to pick up. Use the description field to include all relevant details: phone numbers to call, account numbers needed, specific instructions, or links to relevant information. A well-described task can be completed by any family member without follow-up questions.
Assigning and tracking tasks
Tasks can be assigned to any care circle member. The assigned person receives a notification and sees the task on their dashboard under "My Tasks." Tasks move through statuses: open, in progress, and complete. Anyone in the circle can update the status, add comments, or mark a task complete. When a task is completed, it moves to the done list but remains accessible for reference. Overdue tasks are highlighted on the dashboard so nothing falls through the cracks.
Recurring tasks
For regular responsibilities like pharmacy pickups, grocery shopping, lawn care, or bill payments, create recurring tasks. Set the frequency: daily, weekly, biweekly, or monthly. The app generates new task instances automatically on schedule. You can modify or skip individual occurrences without affecting the recurring series. This is especially useful for responsibilities that rotate among family members.
Filtering and organizing your task list
Filter tasks by status (open, in progress, complete), assignee, category, or priority. The "My Tasks" view shows only what is assigned to you. The "Overdue" filter helps you catch things that have slipped. The "Unassigned" filter shows tasks that need someone to volunteer. Use categories consistently so you can see at a glance how caregiving work is distributed across medical, household, financial, and other domains.
Tips
Break large tasks into smaller, concrete steps. "Research assisted living options" is overwhelming; "Call Sunrise Senior Living for a tour, phone: 555-0123" is actionable. Check the task list weekly as a family to rebalance workloads and identify bottlenecks. Tasks feed directly into the equity tracker, so consistent tracking promotes fairness and transparency about who is doing what. When completing a task, add a brief note about the outcome for the record.
