Managing medications
Keep a complete, up-to-date medication list with schedules, prescribers, and pharmacies.
The medication list
Your medication list in Care Hub > Medications is the central record of everything your loved one takes: prescriptions, over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and supplements. Each entry includes the medication name, strength, dosage instructions, frequency, time of day, prescribing doctor, and pharmacy. The list is shared across the entire care circle, so every family member and caregiver sees the same current information. This eliminates the dangerous situation where different family members have different, outdated medication lists.
Adding and editing medications
Click "Add Medication" and start typing the name. The app suggests matches from a comprehensive drug database powered by the National Library of Medicine. After selecting the medication, fill in the details. To edit an existing medication, tap on it to open the detail view and make changes. To discontinue a medication, use the "Mark as Discontinued" option rather than deleting it. This preserves the history so you can see what was tried, when it was stopped, and why. The complete medication history is valuable for new doctors and during hospital admissions.
Medication schedules and reminders
For each medication, set the schedule: morning, afternoon, evening, bedtime, or specific times of day. The dashboard shows which medications are due and tracks whether they have been marked as taken. SMS reminders can be sent to the care recipient's phone at scheduled medication times, providing a gentle prompt that does not require a smartphone or app installation. If a medication is not marked as taken within a configurable window, the primary caregiver receives an alert.
Drug pricing and pharmacy information
Adding the pharmacy name and phone number lets you call for refills directly from the app with one tap. The Drug Price Compare feature shows pricing at nearby pharmacies so you can find the most affordable option for each medication. Including the prescriber makes it easy to know who to call when there are questions about a medication, dosage changes, or refill authorizations.
Tips for effective medication management
Bring the medication list to every doctor appointment, either printed or on your phone. Include supplements and OTC medications because they can cause serious interactions with prescriptions. Update the list immediately when something changes, do not wait until later. Review the full list with the pharmacist at least once a year to check for unnecessary medications. The medication list can be exported as a CSV file or included in care reports for doctor visits.
