Getting Started

What is Senior Support Resources?+

Senior Support Resources is a care coordination platform for families managing senior loved ones. It brings together medication tracking, appointment management, family coordination, insurance navigation, emergency tools, and 80+ care guides in one place. It also works for seniors who want to stay organized and manage their own care.

How do I sign up?+

Visit the signup page and create an account with your email address. Getting started takes about a minute: you tell us who you are, your loved one's first name and zip code, and the one thing that brought you here. That is enough to land on a dashboard with tools and guidance tailored to your situation. You can add conditions, medications, and more detail whenever you are ready, and it only sharpens the recommendations.

Is it really free?+

Yes. Core features including medication tracking, appointments, care guides, the emergency go-bag, and health monitoring are free to use. The Plus plan ($12.99/mo) adds unlimited Smart Helper conversations, SMS reminders, Smart Upload, PDF/Word reports, and weekly digests. The Family plan ($24.99/mo) supports up to 3 care recipients with priority Smart Helper access and phone support. Founding members lock in 40% off for life.

Do I need to be tech-savvy to use it?+

Not at all. We built this for people who are tired and busy, not tech enthusiasts. If you can check email and use a web browser, you can use Senior Support Resources. The interface is designed to be straightforward, and the onboarding walkthrough shows you exactly where things are.

Features

What is a Care Circle?+

A Care Circle is a group of people involved in caring for one person. You create a circle for your loved one and invite family members, friends, or professionals. Everyone in the circle sees the same medications, appointments, tasks, and updates. You can have multiple circles if you are caring for more than one person.

How does medication tracking work?+

Add medications by searching our drug database (powered by RxNorm and OpenFDA), scanning a barcode, or scanning a prescription label. The system automatically checks for drug interactions, tracks dosage schedules, and can send SMS reminders to your loved one's phone. You can also compare prices at nearby pharmacies.

What are the care guides?+

Over 80 practical guides covering daily care (bathing, nutrition, mobility), medical conditions, difficult conversations (talking about driving, finances, end-of-life), legal planning, home safety, and caregiver self-care. Each guide gives you actionable steps, scripts to use in conversations, and links to relevant resources.

How does the Smart Helper work?+

The Smart Helper is a knowledgeable care advisor that knows your care situation. It goes beyond answering questions: you can ask it to add medications, update care notes, check drug interactions, or pull together information from across your profile. It gives personalized guidance based on the information in your care data. It is not a doctor, but it helps you know what questions to ask and what steps to consider.

What is Smart Upload?+

Smart Upload lets you add care information by forwarding an email, uploading a document, or snapping a photo. The system reads the content and extracts relevant data, such as medications from discharge papers, appointment details from a letter, or prescription info from a pill bottle label. You review what was extracted before anything is saved.

Can I export my data?+

Yes. You can export your complete care data as JSON, or download specific datasets as CSV files: medications, visit logs, health metrics, and incident reports. You can also download PDF and Word reports (Emergency Card, Care Summary, Weekly Report, Medication List), export appointments to any calendar app via iCal, and print emergency information and visit prep sheets.

For Seniors

Can my parent use it themselves?+

Absolutely. Self-managing mode is designed specifically for seniors who want to stay on top of their own care. It features larger text, simplified navigation, a voice assistant for hands-free lookups, and a "check in with my kids" button. Many seniors use it to track medications, store important documents, and keep family informed on their terms.

What is the voice assistant?+

The voice assistant lets self-managing seniors navigate the app and look up medication information using voice commands. It is designed for hands-free use when reading small text or tapping buttons is difficult. Available in the self-managing user mode.

How do check-ins work?+

You can set up SMS wellness check-ins on a schedule that works for your family. Your loved one receives a text message asking how they are doing. They reply with a simple response, and if they do not reply within a set timeframe, family members are automatically notified. No smartphone or app needed - it works with any phone that can receive text messages.

Privacy and Security

How is my data protected?+

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is controlled by Row Level Security policies at the database layer, meaning only members of your Care Circle can see your information. We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it for anything other than providing the service.

Is this HIPAA-compliant?+

We designed the platform with healthcare-level privacy in mind: encrypted data, audit logging, no PHI in error messages, and strict access controls. While we follow HIPAA principles in our architecture, the platform is intended as a personal caregiving tool, not a covered entity. For formal HIPAA compliance requirements, consult with a healthcare compliance professional.

Can I delete my account and data?+

Yes. You can export all your data at any time and request full account deletion. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our systems.

Insurance and Benefits

Can it help with Medicare?+

Yes. The platform includes Medicare coverage lookup so you can check whether specific procedures and services are covered. It also tracks enrollment periods, sends deadline reminders, and provides guidance on Medicare Advantage, supplemental plans, and Part D drug coverage.

How do appeal letters work?+

When a claim is denied, the platform can generate a customized appeal letter based on the denial reason, the service provided, and relevant medical information. You review and customize the letter before sending. The system uses appropriate medical and legal language, but you should consider having a professional review the letter for complex situations.

What benefits can I screen for?+

The benefits screener checks eligibility for 15+ programs including Medicaid, SNAP (food assistance), LIHEAP (energy assistance), Medicare Savings Programs, Extra Help (Part D), Veterans benefits, state pharmaceutical assistance programs, and local community resources. It uses your loved one's location, income, and health information to identify programs they may qualify for.
